Shyam N Shetty, veteran hotelier of Navi Mumbai was unanimously elected as vice-president of Bombay Bunts Association. Association president Jayant K Shetty announced the selection during the extraordinary general body meeting held at their premises here on Saturday December 26. Shyam N Shetty is a native of Nakre and belongs to the lineage family of Balipaguttu of Karkala taluk, Udupi district of Karnataka. He has over four decades of experience in hotel and hospitality industry and owns Shweta Palace Hotel in Navi Mumbai. He served as honorary chief secretary of Navi Mumbai Hotel Owners' Association for over a decade and also served as its president. He has also served as joint treasurer of Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Association - Maharashtra. He had also produced Kannada movie 'Ivalantaha Hendti' (ಇವಳ್ಹಂತ ಹೆಂಡ್ತಿ) with sandalwood actors Anant Nag, Mahalaxmi, Tara, Sadashiv Salian and others in 1990s. ಮುಂಬಯಿ ಮಹಾನಗರದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಮೂದಾಯಿಕ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯಾಗಿ ಸುಮಾರು ಮೂರು ದಶಕದತ್ತ ದಾಲುಗಾಲಿರಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಬೋಂಬೆ ಬಂಟ್ಸ್ ಎಸೋಸಿಯೇಶನ್‌ನ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ ನವಿ ಮುಂಬಯಿಯ ಖ್ಯಾತ ಹೊಟೇಲು ಉದ್ಯಮಿ ಶ್ಯಾಮ ಎನ್.ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಅವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಆಯ್ಕೆ ಆಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕಳೆದ ಶನಿವಾರ ಎಸೋಸಿಯೇಶನ್‌ನ ಸಭಾಗೃಹದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದ ವಿ‌ಶೇಷ ಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ಯಾಮ ಎನ್.ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಇವರನ್ನು ಆಯ್ಕೆಯನ್ನು ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಜಯಂತ್ ಕೆ. ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಪ್ರಕಟಿಸಿದರು. ಶ್ಯಾಮ ಎನ್.ಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಮೂಲತಃ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಕಾರ್ಕಳ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ನಕ್ರೆ ಬಲಿಪಗುತ್ತು ಮನೆತನದವರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಹೊಟೇಲು ಉದ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು ನಾಲ್ಕು ದಶಕದ ಅನುಭವ ಇರುವ ಶ್ರೀಯುತರು ಕ್ಯಾಟರಿಂಗ್ ಉದ್ಯಮದಲ್ಲೂ ಪರಿಣತರು. ಬೃಹನ್ಮುಂಬಯಿ ಉಪನಗರದ ನವಿಮುಂಬಯಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ವೇತಾ ಪ್ಯಾಲೇಸ್ ಹೊಟೇಲ್ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಇವರು ನವಿ ಮುಂಬಯಿ ಹೊಟೇಲ್ ಓನರ್‍ಸ್ ಎಸೋಸಿಯೇಶನ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು ಒಂದು ದಶಕದ ಕಾಲಾವಧಿ ಗೌ| ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಕಾರ್ಯದರ್ಶಿ ಆಗಿ ಬಳಿಕ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ ಧೀಮಂತ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವದ ಮುಂದಾ ಳು ಆಗಿರುವರು. ಫೆಡರೇಶನ್ ಆಫ್ ಹೊಟೇಲ್ ಎಂಡ್ ರೆಸ್ಟೋರೆಂಟ್ ಎಸೋಸಿಯೇಶನ್ ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರ ಇದರ ಜೊತೆ ಕೋಶಾಧಿಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿಯೂ ಸೇವೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದ ಶ್ಯಾಮಣ್ಣ ಇವರು ಬೋಂಬೆ ಬಂಟ್ಸ್ ಎಸೋಸಿಯೇಶನ್‌ನ ವಿವಿಧ ಹುದ್ದೆಗಳನ್ನಲಂಕರಿಸಿ ಕ್ರೀಡಾ ಸಮಿತಿಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿಯೂ ಶ್ರಮಿಸಿರುವರು. ೧೯೮೭ರಲ್ಲಿ ಅನಂತ್‌ನಾಗ್, ಮಹಾಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಿ, ತಾರಾ, ಸದಾಶಿವ ಸಾಲ್ಯಾನ್ ಮತ್ತಿತರರು ನಟಿಸಿದ ಇವಳಂತಹ ಹೆಂಡ್ತಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಚಲನಚಿತ್ರ ಇವರ ನಿರ್ಮಾಪಕತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ತೆರೆ ಕಂಡಿತ್ತು.
